The Department of Pharmacognosy focuses on the study of natural sources of medicines including medicinal plants, phytochemicals, and herbal formulations.
The department emphasizes identification, characterization, extraction and evaluation of bioactive constituents from natural resources, contributing significantly to herbal drug development and novel drug delivery research.
Aim & Objectives:
- To study natural sources of medicines and their characteristics.
- To study and promote herbal drug development.
- To explore medicinal plants and their phytochemical constituents.
- To encourage research in herbal formulation and natural product drug discovery.
Research Outcomes:
- Phytochemical analysis of medicinal and unexplored plant species.
- Estimation of active medicinal compounds from herbal formulations.
- Development and evaluation of herbal formulations.
- Herbal drug development using Novel Drug Delivery Systems (NDDS).
