The Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry provides strong foundational knowledge in Pharmaceutical Organic Chemistry and Analytical Chemistry, which serves as the basis for advanced subjects in B.Pharm and M.Pharm programmes.

The department focuses on synthesis, isolation, purification and characterization of pharmaceutical compounds. Faculty members specialize in synthetic, analytical, computational chemistry and biochemistry. The department also offers a postgraduate programme in Pharmaceutical Quality Assurance, emphasizing validation, documentation, analytical method development and quality control.

Aim & Objectives:

  • Provide strong fundamentals in Pharmaceutical Organic and Analytical Chemistry.
  • Enhance knowledge required for synthesis, isolation, purification and characterization of pharmaceuticals.
  • Develop skills for safe and effective handling of chemicals, glassware and analytical instruments.
  • Create a research-oriented atmosphere for students and faculty.

Overview of the Department:

The department is well equipped to introduce core subjects in B.Pharm and M.Pharm curriculum, laying a strong academic foundation. The postgraduate programme in Pharmaceutical Quality Assurance focuses on physical and chemical examination of pharmaceutical products, analytical method validation, equipment validation and regulatory documentation.

Advanced analytical techniques such as UV, HPLC and IR are used for qualitative and quantitative analysis of drugs and formulations. The department regularly organizes seminars and conferences and actively publishes research in reputed national and international journals.
